Choosing an Instrument
Minimum age for acceptance into the studio is 6 for girls, 8 for boys. Minimum ages per instrument shown below.
- Piano Girls = 6 Boys = 8
- Guitar 10, but can be 8 if taken with another instrument.
- Violin Girls = 6 Boys = 8
- Flute 8
- Accordion 8. Recommended to take piano for a few months first.
- Singing Girls = 6 Boys = 8. Lessons are half singing, half playing an instrument.
30 Minute vs 1 Hour Lessons
Under age 10, all beginner lessons are 30 minutes with the exception of violin. Violin lessons may be 30 or 45 minutes; 45 is recommended.
Depending on the student’s age, attention span, and progress, they may be ready to move up to hour lessons before age 10.
For beginners ages 10 and up, and all intermediate and advanced students, hour lessons are generally recommended.
